We would like to share with you retro photographs of dogs that were taken at the Dog Show back in 1915 and are kept in the collections of the Library of Congress in Washington, DC, USA.
The dog breeds in these pictures are well recognizable, but it is hard not to notice how “different” these dogs looked before.
Now it is fashionable to talk about the fact that dog shows “spoiled the breeds”, sacrificing “showiness” of the original breed characteristics, exaggerating them, and thereby causing irreparable harm to the health of dogs. Today’s material is a little about something else. Let’s just look at the photos and enjoy the moment – how simple and kind the exhibitions were when the owners themselves exhibited their favorites. And the ladies had a great excuse to “walk” their best hat! 😉
